Vacheron Constantin 4073 cal 13 N73

  • Vacheron Constantin ref. 4073 featuring a 34.5 mm 18k yellow gold case, circa 1953. The case is stamped with the Gernach hallmark, the Geneva maker known for early Patek Philippe ref. 96 cases. Its 20 mm lug width gives it a stronger presence on the wrist. The silver dial bears a raised enamel Vacheron Constantin signature, with applied gold Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock, baton markers, and a small seconds subdial. The watch is powered by the manual-winding calibre 13’’’N73. Unlike most examples of this reference, typically fitted with calibre 453, this watch is equipped with an earlier movement dating to circa 1910, as confirmed by an Extract from the Archives. The case was adapted accordingly. This unusual pairing of a mid-century case with an early 20th-century movement sets this example apart.
