Perfecta Girolunette

Curiosity of the day: the P.W.C. Girolunette "Perfecta" from 1953, featuring a 32 mm case with a screw-down caseback and a rotating bezel used to wind and set the movement in place of a conventional crown. Presented at the time as a genuine patented innovation, the system eliminated the traditional winding stem, considered one of the most vulnerable parts of a watch. Time-setting is controlled by a small cam on the side of the case: when positioned upward, rotating the bezel sets the time; when positioned downward, it winds the movement. The system was designed to be easily operated even while wearing thick gloves, including aviator gloves. The tritium dial features applied numerals and small seconds at 6 o'clock, signed P.W.C. Girolunette. Powered by the manual-winding Felsa caliber 351.
